RUBY CRANBERRY & AMARENA CHERRY OLD FASHIONED BLISS 🍒🥃
Ingredients:
- 2 oz bourbon or rye whiskey
- 0.5 oz cranberry syrup
- 0.5 oz Amarena cherry syrup
- 2 dashes of Angostura bitters
- Ice cubes
- Amarena cherries and fresh cranberries for garnish
- Orange peel for garnish
Directions:
- Begin by preparing your cocktail mixing space. Gather all your ingredients and tools. You’ll need a mixing glass, a bar spoon, and a strainer. Ice is essential, so make sure you have plenty of ice cubes ready.
- In your mixing glass, pour in 2 oz of your preferred bourbon or rye whiskey. The choice of whiskey can greatly influence the flavor profile, so select one you enjoy.
- Next, add 0.5 oz of cranberry syrup. This syrup brings a beautiful tartness and sweetness to the drink. You can purchase cranberry syrup or easily make your own by simmering fresh cranberries with sugar and water until syrupy.
- Follow this with 0.5 oz of Amarena cherry syrup. If you have the cherries, you can pit them and use the syrup directly. This will add a lovely depth and a hint of indulgence to the cocktail.
- Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters. This helps balance the sweetness and adds complexity. Use a few dashes; it’s potent, and you don’t want it to overpower the drink.
- Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes. Use larger ice cubes if possible, as they melt slower and dilute your drink less.
- Using your bar spoon, stir the mixture for about 30 seconds. This chilling action blends the flavors and helps to create a silky texture in your cocktail.
- Prepare your serving glass, traditionally an Old Fashioned glass. If you desire, you can strain the mixture into a fresh glass filled with icy cubes.
- Now it’s time to garnish. Drop in a couple of Amarena cherries and, if available, some fresh cranberries for a festive touch. Finally, twist a piece of orange peel over the drink to release the oils, then drop it in for added aroma.
- Serve immediately and enjoy the delightful combination of flavors!
